👥 Who Should Get HAVRIX-720?
Hepatitis A vaccination is recommended from 1 year of age and remains relevant through adolescence for specific risk groups. HAVRIX-720 (Junior) is especially important for:
👶
Children 1–15 Years
HAVRIX-720 Junior is specifically formulated for children and adolescents. Early vaccination protects against a common, highly contagious liver infection spread through contaminated food and water.
🏠
Household Contacts
Family members and close contacts of a person diagnosed with Hepatitis A should be vaccinated promptly to help prevent household transmission.
✈️
International & Domestic Travellers
Children travelling to areas with poor sanitation or active Hepatitis A outbreaks benefit from vaccination at least 2–4 weeks before travel.
🍽️
Food Handler Households
Families involved in food service or catering benefit from vaccination to reduce transmission risk within the household and community.
🫁
Chronic Liver Disease
Children with any underlying chronic liver condition are at higher risk of severe Hepatitis A illness and should be vaccinated as advised by their doctor.
🏫
Daycare & School Attendees
Children in daycare centres and schools are at higher risk of exposure due to close contact with other children.
🩺
High Exposure-Risk Individuals
Individuals with occupational, medical or lifestyle exposure risk factors, as identified by a physician, are recommended to receive Hepatitis A vaccination.

Day 0 (as advised by paediatrician)
First dose in the 2-dose primary series
Children 1–15 years (Booster Dose)

Completes the primary series; provides long-term protection
Catch-up Vaccination
2 Doses
0 and 6–12 months, from any age 1 year+
Can be started at any age from 1 year if missed earlier
ℹ️ Best practice: The 2nd (booster) dose should ideally be given between 6 to 12 months after the first dose. If delayed beyond 12 months, the booster can still be given — there is no need to restart the series.
⚙️ How Does HAVRIX-720 Work?
1
Inactivated Antigen Injected Intramuscularly
0.5 mL of HAVRIX-720 is injected IM into the deltoid (or anterolateral thigh in younger children). The dose delivers 720 ELISA Units of formaldehyde-inactivated Hepatitis A virus. No live virus is present — the vaccine cannot cause Hepatitis A infection.
2
Immune System Recognition
Antigen-presenting cells at the injection site process the inactivated viral antigens and present them to T-helper cells, initiating the adaptive immune response.
3
Antibody Production (2–4 Weeks)
B-cells produce protective antibodies against Hepatitis A virus, with protective levels typically achieved within 2 to 4 weeks of the first dose.
4
Long-Term Protection After Booster
The second (booster) dose at 6–12 months triggers a strong immune memory response, providing long-term protection against Hepatitis A estimated to last for many years.
✅ Cannot cause Hepatitis A: HAVRIX-720 is a completely inactivated vaccine — no live or attenuated virus whatsoever. It is physiologically impossible to contract Hepatitis A from HAVRIX-720. Mild soreness or low-grade fever after vaccination are normal immune activation responses, not infection.
