0.5 mL of Hexaxim is injected IM, usually into the anterolateral thigh in infants. The dose contains inactivated/detoxified components of six pathogens – none of which are live, so the vaccine cannot cause the diseases it protects against.

- Anaphylaxis or severe allergic reaction to a previous dose of this vaccine, or to any of its components (including neomycin or glutaraldehyde traces)

- Moderate to severe acute febrile illness – defer vaccination until full recovery (mild illness without fever is NOT a contraindication)
