All Infants from 6 Weeks ⭐

Premature & High-Risk Infants

14 Polysaccharide–CRM197 Conjugates Injected IM
After shaking well, 0.5 mL is injected intramuscularly (anterolateral thigh in infants, deltoid in older children/adults). The dose delivers 14 individual pneumococcal polysaccharide–CRM197 conjugates adsorbed on aluminium phosphate adjuvant.

CRM197 Recruits T-Helper Cells (T-Dependent Immunity)
The CRM197 carrier protein activates CD4+ T-helper cells for each of the 14 conjugates simultaneously. This generates T-cell-dependent immune responses — creating true immunological memory, effective from 6 weeks, and an amplified booster response on subsequent doses.

14 Serotype-Specific IgG Antibodies Produced
The immune system generates protective IgG antibodies against all 14 pneumococcal serotypes including 22F and 33F — the emerging strains. These antibodies bind pneumococcal bacteria, activate complement and facilitate opsonophagocytic killing, preventing invasive disease.

Herd Protection + Nasopharyngeal Carriage Reduction
PCV vaccination reduces pneumococcal nasopharyngeal colonisation — the source of spread. Vaccinated children are less likely to carry and transmit pneumococcus to unvaccinated contacts (elderly, immunocompromised), creating indirect herd protection.

- Known hypersensitivity to any component including CRM197 or aluminium phosphate
- Severe allergic reaction to a prior PCV dose

- Immunosuppressed patients — immune response may be reduced; PCV still strongly recommended
- Coagulation disorders — use fine needle, firm pressure post-injection
