Hepatitis A vaccination is recommended for everyone above 1 year of age, and is especially important for:
Children are highly susceptible to Hepatitis A and often remain asymptomatic while shedding the virus, spreading infection at home, daycare and school. Universal 2-dose vaccination from 1 year of age is recommended.
Travel to areas with variable food and water hygiene raises HAV exposure risk. Vaccination is recommended at least 2 weeks before travel; even a single dose provides useful short-term protection.
Food handlers can unknowingly transmit HAV through contaminated food and water. Vaccination protects both the individual and prevents outbreak-level spread to the public.
Individuals with chronic liver disease, including Hepatitis B or C, face a significantly higher risk of severe or fulminant Hepatitis A if infected. Vaccination is strongly recommended.
Regular exposure to bodily fluids and contaminated environments raises HAV exposure risk for laboratory staff, sewage workers and healthcare personnel.
People who regularly receive clotting factor concentrates face an increased risk of HAV exposure; vaccination is recommended by treating physicians.
Populations with documented higher risk of HAV transmission through close personal contact are recommended vaccination by public health bodies.
One VacciHub home visit โ vaccinate the whole household together. Especially useful before a family trip, or when a young child is starting daycare or school.
Each 0.5 mL dose contains, as a purified and inactivated antigen preparation:
| Component | Quantity | Notes |

| Hepatitis A Virus Antigen (Inactivated, cell-culture derived) | Purified viral antigen, potency per WHO-recommended standards | Whole-virus antigen, chemically inactivated with formaldehyde |
| ADJUVANT | ||
| Aluminium Hydroxide | Adsorbent, per manufacturer specification | Enhances and prolongs the immune response to the antigen |
| EXCIPIENTS & PRESERVATIVE | ||
| Phosphate-buffered Saline | Vehicle | Isotonic buffer solution for the injectable suspension |
| Preservative | Preservative-free formulation | Single-dose vial / prefilled syringe โ no thiomersal added |
| PRODUCTION AND INACTIVATION | ||
| Cell substrate | Human diploid cell culture | Virus propagated under controlled GMP conditions |
| Inactivation method | Formaldehyde inactivation | Renders the virus completely non-infectious while preserving antigenicity |
| Age Group | Number of Doses | Timing | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Children (1 year and above) | 2 Doses | Dose 1 + Dose 2 at least 6 months apart | Universal 2-dose primary schedule; no booster required after completion |
| Adults & Adolescents | 2 Doses | Dose 1 + Dose 2, 6โ12 months later | Same 2-dose schedule provides long-term (20+ years) protection |
